3600 Plus New Owner

I just bought a mint 1992 3600 Plus.  I was going to get the new 5200, but the more I looked into them, the more appealing the older machines seemed.  They have blade reversal and do everything in one canister.  I also heard they are quieter.  Why do people then "upgrade" to the 5200?  What is the real difference?  I haven't received this yet, but any advice would be appreciated.  Maggie

    Stick with your 3600....learn how to take off the blade and pour spout (if you have one) for cleaning.  Un-screw the bottom legs and check around the motor and make sure it is not dirty and dusty...your machine will spark when going from forward to reverse(it is okay)...so keep it clean.


    Plastic containers just get stinky, crack, and if something rubs it the wrong way you might even be eating plastic....that is a large trade off in-order to see everything being blended...just look from the top! I wish vita-mix would come out with a new one with a stainless steel container!!!

  • Hi. I just joined and I just had my sister send me my Mom's old 3600 Plus. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but my sister says that the motor sounds great. Also, knowing my Mom, she probably didn't use it much. I think I'd rather have the clear canister than the stainless, but we'll see how it goes. Wish me Luck!!
