Interesting thing - started having detox symptoms after a few days of faithfully taking supplements! Hhmmm, perhaps the supplements are allowing my body to "dig deeper" into my systems and flush more stuff out. I had read to expect this with the oil of oregano so I started with only 1 capsule and (when the headaches subside) will increase to 2 and 3. OoO is very antifungal and a good one to take during this cleanse. I think it is causing the detox symptoms. But the headaches are not nearly as bad as the first days were (see my original blog post on that).
Hopefully this is not too personal for readers, but I realized today that I have not had any gas or constipation issues since starting this. Constipation was never a real concern, but I often felt bloated and gassy - not much fun for us ladies especially! SO, another positive and unexpected outcome to this process. 3 weeks and 3 days to go is the plan! Unless I have more detox after I start my exercise routine; continuing detox symptoms will add an additional 4 weeks on, to make sure the candida is fully cleared up.
I am looking forward to re-incorporating a lost habit back into my eating after this cleanse is over - green smoothies! If you haven't started, there are several recipes and videos available on this site and others. Basics are 40% green leafy of your choice and 60% (sweet) fruit of choice, with perhaps some ice and enough water to get the smoothie consistency. With a regular blender, you sometimes still have bits of greens, which is not fun to eat (especially if you are NOT a fan of eating raw kale or swiss chard, which I am not), but the vitamix pulverizes it. Yes, you still taste the greens, but the primary flavor is the fruit, and the health benefits are worth learning to love it!
Homemade almond milk is a life-saver during this cleanse - you must try making it. The recipe is online and in the book. I use stevia to taste and a dash of vanilla. You can strain the sediment out if you like (and use it to make nut cheese), or leave it in for added fiber - in my morning smoothie I dont even notice it, but drinking it straight is a little "gritty" - I still love it. It stays fine in the fridge and needs a good shake before drinking. A batch of the recipe makes about 3-4 cups.
I saw some people have added this blog to their favorites and even posted comments - wow, that's cool! I write it mainly to remind myself of why I am doing this, but it is thrilling if others are also getting something out of it. I hope it is uplifting and motivating, because it is for me! Not every day is a good day - like when the rest of my family wanted KFC for dinner and I had a bottle of water because there was nothing I could eat. I try to keep focused on the reason I am doing this - health of body and mind. Accomplishing the goals I have for my life REQUIRES me to be in the best possible physical health I can achieve. I hope you feel the same way about your life's goals!
