First off, let me state how much I LOVE MY VITAMIX. I've had it for 7 months now and, except for trips out of town, I've used it every single day. It's been my BEST HEALTH INVESTMENT EVER. (Thank you to Anthony Anderson at rawmodel.com for his compelling testimonial that won me over! ALSO to VitaMix for their great refurbished model deals!)
I just looked back at an earlier VitaMix email which contained a holiday recipe for Baked Apple Crumb. It sounds delicious, and I went looking on the web site for cooks' comments, however neither the recipe nor personal comments are to be found.
Has anyone made this? What did you think?
***And what kind of oats are to be used here? (Quick-cooking? Or whole oats?)***
Preparation note: To avoid the sticky cleaning situation toward the end, I'd recommend preparing the nuts/brown sugar topping in the blender FIRST, setting them aside, THEN making the apple mixture.
Here's the recipe in full:
Preparation Time: 10 minutes Bake Time: 45 minutes Blend Time: 2 minutes, 45 seconds Yield: 12 servings Ingredients DirectionsHoliday Baked Apple Crumb

1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
2 tablespoons (25 g) flax seed (optional)

“I have a Vitamix that my husband surprised me with 26 years ago. It is still going strong. During canning season, I make gallons of fresh tomato juice. I just toss the cut up tomatoes in the Vita & blend-put through a sieve-bring to a boil & jar. I make smoothies-applesauce-pumpkin butter-milkshakes. This thing takes a beating & holds up & keeps going. It has paid for itself so many times- an investment that is really worth it. I love my Vitamix & don't ever want to be without one.”- Sherry M of Fairfield, PA

“Since purchasing the Vitamix machine, my life has changed dramatically. Every day I use my Vitamix either with fruit or with vegetables. I am healthier, happier, and thinner. My husband and I swear by it and needed to become Vitamix friendly again. My father, died at 89, but had one of the first Vitamix machines. He loved your machine and died of natural causes, so I, at 65, am sworn to your product line.
Thanks again." -Caroline L. of Darien, IL

Famous Artist Benini is a long time Vitamix owner
Italian artist Benini and wife Lorraine love their Vitamix machine. The couple recently called Vitamix to upgrade their 20 year old machine to a brand new Super Vitamix 5200 package.
The Beninis told us that their Vitamix has arrived! I could sense the anticipation from these long time Vitamix owners! “Lorraine and I have been using our Vitamix for 20 years. Time now for an upgrade!” Benini said.
Benini’s work includes paintings and sculptures which are on display at the 140 acre Benini Studio and Sculpture Ranch located in Johnson City Texas where the couple resides. The Beninis purchased this ranch in 1999. The Benini Galleries and Sculpture Ranch includes the residence, guesthouse and a 14,000 sq. ft. Studios Building with offices, a fine arts library, galleries and the studios where Benini paints through the night.
Lorraine had this to say about their new Vitamix machine. “Benini's work is all about color. So we picked the cherry red Vitamix and it is glorious with our granite counters!”
The Beninis made such an impression on the Vitamix household call center that the sales staff sent me the link to his website to check out just how amazing Benini's art is! I made contact with the Beninis who were happy to tell us a little more about their Vitamix experience!
Benini is an accomplished artist that you have to check out for yourself! Hundreds of pieces of Benini’s art are featured in universities, public institutions and museums.

Customer provided this testimonial 7/11/10 "I bought a Vitamix 5200 brand new about 3 months ago. I have never been one to get enough fruit and veggies in my diet. I started drinking a shake of fresh apples, spinach, carrots, strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, a little lemon juice, and fresh ginger (blended with lots of ice and a little water)twice a day replacing breakfast and lunch. I also started going to the gym 4 days a week because my energy level increased as a result of the shakes. I have already dropped 35 pounds and feel FANTASTIC! I've been struggling with my weight for the last 10 years, and thanks to the Vitamix - I am finally winning the fight. I look and feel much healthier. The Vitamix was the best investment I've ever made.

I LOVE MY VITAMIX!" - Jesse S. New York, NY
I finally own a Vitamix 5200! I work for Costco and about every 3-4 months for the last 3 years a Vita-Mix rep would come and demo it. I wanted one from the first moment the rep made tortilla soup and ice cream with cabbage in it. It was amazing! I tried to get my husband to come check it out, he never would. He bought me several other blenders and a juicer over the years. In June the Vitamix rep came again and this time I decided that I wasn't going to ask my husband, I was just going to purchase it. I did end up talking to him about it, he thought it was a waste of money. He said that if that was what I wanted to spend my money on then go ahead, so I did. See, like many of you we are now only a 1 income family. Not by choice, but my husband has been unemployed for over 2 years now. We are struggling to make ends meet. You have to know that I thought about this decision long and hard. My weighing factor to make this purchase was our health. For the last 3 years I have been caring for my dad who had a stroke. My daily routine was to be at my sisters house at 5 am- get her kids off to school, then go to my dads house and make his breakfast and lunch, go to work for 8 hours (most nights not home until 9:30 pm), then cook dinner for my husband this was my routine 5 days a week for 3 years. I'm also a photographer. On my days off I'm out taking photographs, trying to make some extra money. My dad recently had a smaller stroke that took away his independence. My sisters and I had to make a tough choice to put him in a very nice adult family home. He requires 24 hour care now. My dad is only 66. His parents died at an early age and his sister died from breast cancer when she was 42. As I started to say, I made this investment for our health. I'm very worried about what my future has instore for me, as I seem to carry more of my dads genes than my moms. My schedule has left me very tired, I've gained weight and my stress level is very high. There is no me time. Now that some of my daily responsibilities have changed I can focus on me. My husband suffers from some mental health issues and I just knew that this machine could help us in a big way. I have owned my Vitamix for almost 3 weeks now. The first meal I made was Tortilla Soup and Pina Coladas. When my husband found out his incredible soup was made in the new machine he couldn't believe it. He said no way could a blender also cook his food. He has since ground his coffee beans in it. He loves to make salsa (everyday). Every time he or I make something with it he is amazed! He said we can't call it a blender. It has to have a better name. Our Vitamix is called Godzilla. He says it's the best investment I have ever made, well besides him of course! Now when I get off of work he wants to know Godzilla and he can make me for dinner. Godzilla Rocks!
Hi I'm thinking about buying a Vita mix blender and wondered how loud they are?
I tried the Montel health something and found it to be really loud!
