Vita-Mix, A better life…….
We are so fortunate here at Vita-Mix. We work for a company that not only cares about improving the health of its customers, but also cares about improving the health of its employees. I wanted to produce this video to show our customers and the world, some of the things that Vita-Mix, the company, has done for Vita-Mix employees.
Vita-Mix understands that a healthy workforce is a productive workforce. Most companies probably are not this health minded and probably don't know what a corporate wellness program even is. At Vita-Mix, we do have a corporate wellness program with excellent health care benefits at he core of the program. In our program, our deductible is reduced for being healthy- probably a new concept to most companies. This new health care program puts the responsibility on the employee to take control of our own health.
Most everyone at Vita-Mix is watching their weight, they prepare and eat sensible meals, and are involved in some kind of physical activity or fitness program. We ALSO use our Vita-Mix machines! There are several located in our lunch rooms here at Vita-Mix.
Whats really cool is the track that goes around the entire Vita-Mix property that is set back in a woodsy lot. We use this at lunch when the weather is nice out. Vita-Mix also has a fitness center and has fitness instructors from a community fitness club come in to teach exercise and yoga relaxation classes to us. Another perk is joining this fitness club at reduced rates.
In the video below, is one of many presenters that Vita-Mix has brought in to teach us how to become healthier. A fantastic resource for us and all part of our Vita-Mix corporate wellness program!
Not to mention a Vita-Mix machine is yours when you work here. Vita-Mix has even held classes for us with Chef Nancy, our recipe developer, so that we learn the proper way to use the machine! It's always time to eat at Vita-Mix. Chef Nancy tests lots of recipes that she makes throughout the day…so Yes, Nancy is very popular here …she is one fantastic Vita-Mix Chef!
It’s really extraordinary to be able to work for a company like Vita-Mix that has a product that I personally believe in and use daily. Using a Vita-Mix machine has improved my overall health and changed the way that I now eat.
I hope the video encourages those of you who are not customers or who are thinking about becomming an owner, to order your Vita-Mix now!!! Why would you wait? Your health is the most important thing that you have!
Below is an example of one of the guest lecturers Vita-Mix had. Dr. Bob DeMaria discusses natural detoxification methods. He spoke here at Vita-Mix as you can see in the video ...he conducts lectures about Corporate Wellness. Vita-Mix is a very health minded company and has brought some of the most interesting lecturers to Vita-Mix to speak about various health topics. Go to www.druglessdoctor.com for details. Enjoy the video.
Here in Canada, winters are long and cold. This recipe helps warm things up.
To the VitaMix add:
1 cup milk
1 scoop protein powder
1 banana
1 tablespoon hot chocolate powder (dark chocolate is better). Cocoa powder would work as well.
Turn machine on, increase speed to 10 and switch to high. Let the machine run for about 4 minutes or until a lot of steam escapes from the top.
No more scalded pans making hot chocolate.

Not even a snow storm the night before could keep customers away from the Vita-Mix Holiday sale held Saturday November 22 at our head quarters in Olmsted Falls Ohio.
Twice a year, Vita-Mix throws a sale and opens up to the public for demonstrations, sampling , extra savings and bonus gifts. The annual holiday sale takes months of preparation just take a look.

Most of the planning is done by our household sales manager, Beck Prince, who does a fantastic job organizing everything. The customers I talked with on Saturday, had so many nice things to say about how well they were treated and how helpful our staff was. One customer said she wanted to buy because she could feel the electricity in the air and see the smiles on all of our faces. She said she was buying a Vita-Mix machine because she could tell that Vita-Mix was not only a good company to work for, but because of how passionate the staff was about the machine.
It was such a pleasure to meet so many of our returning customers and was great to meet new people that had been wanting a Vita-Mix machine of their own. Happy customers who bought a machine because of the sale, told me they could not wait to return home to start using their Vita-Mix machine. Check out everyone watching as Dan demonstrated how the Vita-Mix 5200 works.
Dan fascinated the crowd with the green smoothie and the tortilla soup recipe! Those were a big hit with the crowd. The crowd was so surprised how easy it was to clean the Vita-Mix machine-just a little soap, some water , blend for a minute and rinse.
We also had a table of refreshments featuring a few basic holiday recipes –all made in the Vita-Mix machine in minutes. Customers enjoyed sampling everything.
We were ready to help our customers by making their purchase a quick and easy process. A large number of our friendly staff volunteered to work the event. Also, the check out area ran smoothly with many Vita-Mix staff on hand to answer questions our customers had.
The sale also featured lots of individual pieces from our Neova cookware line check it out. Neova is so great because you don’t have to cook with oil or butter - it cooks with water-making for a much healthier meal. Think of all the calories you can save by cooking with Neova! Many customers took advantage of the low prices on these items. Take a look
Thank you all for attending the annual holiday factory sale. We hope all of you who purchased have been enjoying making recipes in your Vita-Mix machines! Happy holidays everyone!
Vitamix was again a sponsor of the annual WGAR concert "Guitars for Girls,” a benefit fundraiser concert for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment which was held October 27, 2009. Cleveland’s country music station, WGAR, joined Cleveland Clinic, VitaMix, and Lorain County Community College to help raise nearly $28,000 for the Komen Foundation! Entertainment consisted of an up-close and personal acoustic set with 3 country music stars.
The Vitamix demo table was a popular stop for concertgoers who loved our famous Pink Ribbon Smoothie that we were making. If you would like the recipe, go to the Vitamix Breast Cancer page http://www.vitamix.com/household/Health/breasthealth.asp#recipes
Vitamix was also invited to a meet & greet with the performers who included Richie McDonald, formerly of Lonestar, James Otto and Chuck Wicks (who was on Dancing with the Stars!) It was a great concert and we enjoy being a sponsor for this event.

Today I went for my first "SPIN" in my new 5200 . I call it my "Red Zoomer" and boy does it ever. First I took control of a Green Smoothie , made with Kale and Red Leaf Lettuce , adding some peaches. strawberries and a little water. A touch of lemon for zest and I was off on a delicious adventure . In about 15 minutes the Red Zoomer's tank was empty and I was in smoothie bliss.
After a quick wash job I was out to dry grade some coconut chunks that had been waiting in the fridge. That little spin took all of 30 seconds. Red Zoomer parked now but I am ready for tomorrows breakfast green smoothie. Oh! and then there's lunch and dinner!
What if Noah had a Vita Mix...Care to give your opinion? I would love to hear your comments.
The local botanic garden hosts two different chefs each weekend to demonstrate recipes with just-picked garden delights. Yesterday, the recipe was Organic Tomato Gazpacho - made in a blender. Here it is:
5 each Roma Tomatoes (rough chopped)
2 each Cucumber (seeded, peeled and chopped)
1 each large Red Pepper (seeded, cored and chopped)
1 each Celery Stalk (chopped)
5 each Green onions (chopped)
2 cloves Garlic (chopped)
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Tabasco (or to taste)
1 oz Olive Oil
1/4 cup Sherry Vinegar
2 ea - 8 oz cans tomato juice or V8
For garnish: 1 tbsp creme fraiche or sour cream, halved grape tomoatoes and scallions
In your Vita Mix, combine first 6 ingredients. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Combine oil, vinegar, tomato juice (or V8) and Tabasco. Blend into vegetables until smooth. Serve in large bowls or mugs. Serves 6 to 8.
Everyone in the audience gets samples. The soup was fantastic. The chef suggested it the day before you plan to serve so all the ingredients can "marry" in the fridge.
I did it - yesterday, I ground whole wheat berries and baked my first ever real whole wheat bread. I think it takes some gettin' used to. It is dense. But, my kid loves it. She had it as toast with her eggs this morning and asked for a pbj using the bread in her lunchbox today.
Next I'm gonna have to try making peanut butter.

A recent discovery of a 2-1/2 by 4 foot bee hive in a fallen tree at Vita-Mix World Headquarters had everybody “buzzing”. Noting that honey bees are becoming an endangered species, facilities manager David Prince contacted local beekeeper Bryan Coufalik to preserve and move the hive to a safe haven.
While Coufalik was working on saving the queen and her 40,000 bees, Vita-Mix CEO John Barnard mentioned that his grandfather, Frank C. Pellett, had been an author of 13 books on bees, editor of the America Bee Journal, and had even been the state apiarist for Iowa in the 1930s and 1940s. It seems that Vita-Mix and bees have a bit of history together!
Good news for Vita-Mix smoothie fans: The bees have been safely relocated, local fruit and vegetable plants will continue to be pollinated and honey will be harvested from the combs later this year.
Hello,
I am the proud owner of a vita mix that I purchased back in 1978 and at that time is was used. It is all chrome with a stainless steel container and a spigot for liquid. The same container is used for grinding wheat. The only problem was that I moved and had stored my vita mix in a tall cabinet but being too lazy to get a chair, I tried reaching it. You know where this story goes (the unit also had it's container and plastic lid with it) down it went to the floor. I was so mad but called vita mix and told them the story. This story has a happy ending. Vita mix could re-condition it. I sent it to their customer servce department and it came back good as new. They even polished it for me so I didn't have to. I requested extra gaskets at that time and later ordered a new spigot and extra gaskets since they can dry out and crack.
It still runs great but the idea of a container having no spigot sounded nice to me as well as the fact that now there are separate containers for wet and dry. I have used my old 3600 constantly and found it especially nice when my small tomatoe plants (years ago) produced. It was so nice to just stick a tomatoe in and follow a recipe (at first) to make soup, salsa, tomatoe sauce, puree and it all tasted great!! The sauce and puree I canned and it was the best for making pasta dishes.
I was bragging about my vita mix to a friend and she purchased one for herself and loved it. I told her that someday I too would buy another one. We helped her with a business transaction and wanted to give me her vita mix 5000. At first I felt it was too much to give us but she said she would be satisfied with my old one. I am going to order new gaskets for the old one along with a new spigot just in case. Talk about a good friend!! I am so grateful.
With all the things that can be done with this handy appliance, I would recommend it to anyone who wants a fresh start to great food. Grinding wheat and other grains is so much fun to experiment with. Fresh fruit milkshakes, smooties and veggie juice is a snap to do.
So get healthy buy one of these machines. No vita -mix did not hire me
I just love their product.
A Fabulous Food Show indeed!
I had a great time at the 2008 Fabulous Food Show held November 14-16, 2008 at the IX Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Must have been my lucky week, I won my tickets in a raffle here at work. Thanks Vita-Mix! Vita-Mix was a main sponsor of the weekend-long event. And it was very cool to see our logo on the signs and banners inside the exhibit hall.
The show featured a Main Kitchen Theater with live cooking shows with celebrity chef’s Paula Deen, Curtis Stone, Guy Fiere, Bobby Deen & hometown celebrity chef Michael Symon http://www.lolabistro.com/. I was only able to catch Michael Symon’s show. I was impressed at his showmanship. He was very funny and entertaining and was so excited to be on stage in front of his hometown crowd. Symon has owned several restaurants including the critically acclaimed Lola and Lolita restaurants in Cleveland Ohio. He has been nationally recognized for culinary excellence in numerous books, magazines, television shows and has been featured on the Food Network. Most recently he has been named “Iron Chef” and has just opened a new restaurant in Detroit, Michigan.
There were hundreds of exhibitors with huge displays and most passed out delicious samples of their products. I walked around and tasted everything that I could! I especially enjoyed the chocolate bar. Look at the unique cakes they had on display. Pretty cool!
My favorite vendor was Heini’s Market place, an Ohio Amish Country favorite for cheese http://www.heinis.com/ Of course I couldn’t leave with out buying the Lacy baby Swiss Cheese…I figured it would go good with wine and crackers for the holiday.
Other booths I enjoyed were Stancattos http://www.stancatos.com/ who gave out samples of their pasta sauce. I have been to Stancattos restaurant many times and the food is quite good. The meat sauce is my favorite!
Giant Eagle stores, this area’s largest grocery store chain, had a very large area to display their products and handed out samples of organic salsa and blue corn chips and samples of pumpkin cake. One not to be missed was the Sorcerer Seasonings and yes, I bought http://sorcererseasonings.com/ I loved the Salami cream cheese rolls and the fried cheese. I used the seasoning I bought to flavor some popcorn that was really good that way…a little tip from the demonstrator!
We even participated in the wine tasting at the Grand Wine Tasting Pavilion. For $10 you got 6 tickets good for tasting wine and beer and a Schott Zwiesel crystal wine glass. Pretty cool! Well since I went on the last day of the Food Show, the good wines were already gone! BOO HOO! I am a pretty picky wine drinker and I only enjoy Riesling but I thought I would try a few new ones. I didn’t find any good wines and actually tasted a few that were pretty bad, I hate dry wine. I had to go to a wine you can’t go wrong with and that’s Ferrante http://www.ferrantewinery.com/ one of my favorite places to go in the summer and early fall. If you ever get out to Northeast Ohio, you MUST stop at Ferrante. They have great food and a fabulous selection of wine – family owned and operated since 1937. A Shannon Lee favorite!
I made it a point to stop at the Vita-Mix booth and say HELLO!
I have to admit we had one of the better displays. The people walking by could not help but stop and be amazed at all the items Nate was blending together in the Vita-Mix. He was really a showman! He really amazed the crowd with his smoothie & ice cream recipes! It was so yummy!
I think the people couldn’t believe their eyes that you could actually blend whole fruit into ice cream. It was a thrill to see a very mesmerized crowd. Vita-Mix participates thousands of shows all over the world. Check out when we will be in your hometown here’s the link for US shows http://www.vitamix.com/household/shows/
It's about that time!!! Yes, we are once again approaching the holiday season can you believe it??? Every year in October, Vita-Mix employees start to plan the Annual Holiday Factory Sale. At this event, Vita-Mix opens its doors to the public to do live demonstrations with our fabulous machine. Employees take turns demonstrating the process of our versatile Vita-Mix machine! You can check them out all on VIDEO at http://www.vitamix.com/household/products/super5000/maxnut.asp
At the sale we’ll offer super prices on our reconditioned Vita-Mix machines and there are even bonus gifts with a purchase. What a great time to buy gifts for that hard to buy for person on your list! It's also a great time to sample the favorite recipes of our employee’s - they’ll be blending some delicious recipes for you to sample all day.
Household Sales Manger, Becky Prince has organized this successful sales event for years. She enjoys getting to meet new customers and the familiar faces who have attended in the past. "The excitement and anticipation on the visitor’s faces waiting for the doors to open is rewarding to me. Visitors love the Vita-Mix experience, the rich history and the unique family tradition of a company dedicated to producing a product that will enable a Vita-Mix owner to make whole foods quickly and easily in their own home."
Being a dedicated company, Vita-Mix also has brought attention to a healthy new drink called the Green Smoothie. Many employees here (including me) love making this delicious drink at lunchtime or perfect for that afternoon boost! (much better than candy) I think this year someone is very likely to demo one at the Factory Sale. You can learn all about green smoothies on a new page on the Vita-Mix website. Here is the link http://www.vitamix.com/household/Health/green_smoothie.asp
Kids especially love the green smoothie. Becky loves when kids at our Holiday Sale drink their first green smoothie, "I love to see the look on their parents faces in disbelief that their children are enjoying something that is this healthy for them!"
Come and check out what else we will be doing at the Annual Factory Holiday Sale! Here are the details:
Sale hours: 9am to 5pm on Saturday November 22 at Vita-Mix Headquarters 8615 User Rd. Olmsted Township, Ohio 44138
