“I've always been a Juice/Smoothie fanatic, but the blender that I have had took many minutes in order for me to blend all the fruit. Crushing the ice was painful, so needless to say, I only did it once or twice at the most to make my smoothie or shakes.
I went through two blenders and it so happens that I went to Costco, I was actually just browsing, and this guy behind a show stand, asked me how I was doing? I replied the standard 'Ok', and then I asked what he was demonstrating. He replied that he's about to demo the Vitamix blender. I actually rolled my eyes, thinking, another gimmick, and since I was the only one there so far, I asked him politely but with some sarcasm, "will it make good smoothies? Will it crush the ice in no time?" The guy just smiled at me and said that he'd be glad to give me a private demo seeing that nobody was nearby. So he proceeded to put in some fruit and some ice, and I just cannot BELIEVE how fast it liquefied those ingredients. I actually did a double take and started asking for more demo. He continued to answer all of my questions and more.
By this time, a few people were listening to our conversation. Needless to say, I didn't hesitate - I bought one right away. Even though it was beyond my price limit, I had to get one. After I bought it, I was a bit paranoid what my wife would say. When I bought it and told her I got a new blender, I had to sell it to her fast, so I told her, I will make her smoothies everyday! She rolled her eyes and said, 'Ya, this I have to see'.
That was 3 months ago, and to this day, I have been making smoothies, shakes everyday for her without any time lost. It is so fast, and I am so- so- so– so- so – so glad I invested in this. I have to thank the demonstrator for giving me a private demo. My wife says it's the best investment that I have ever bought as she is benefitting from it. I truly enjoy making my smoothies and shakes with ease!
Thank you so much for inventing this!” - Roy C. of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

This morning, I whirled up something new. Something RAW, which means I did not cook it, nor did it reach a temperature over 115°F, which I recently read kills the enzymes and many nutrients naturally inherent in foods. I have always enjoyed discovering, playing and tasting in the world of food--gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and now I venture into the flavorful world of raw. Many cultures offer endless adventure in texture, spices, ingredients and techniques.
I am never bored when it comes to food.
I had my first RAW breakfast, and after making it, ended up with both a nutritious raw whole grain oats meal, and raw oats milk. Preparation was fast, and I made both at once in my Vita-Mix Professional Series 500. The oats were superb, eaten raw with a touch of milk, sweetener, and fruit. The texture was velvety smooth, and a pleasure to eat cold. The milk is rich, flavorful, accented by a touch or sweetener and vanilla, and will make a nice addition to my morning smoothies.
Oats are packed with nutrition, and I can't believe I had never had oats meal or oats milk RAW.
I may never go back to cooking oats or buying non-dairy milk again.
I love my Vita-Mix.
I've been tweaking the Taco Soup recipe on the Vitamix web site for weeks now and I've finally come up with my favorite version. Try it and see what you think!
1 roma tomato
1 carrot (or a handful of baby carrots)
1 green onion
1 rib of celery
3 tablespoons of canned black beans
3 tablespoons of canned corn
1 tablespoon of taco seasoning (I use the hot and spicy one)
1 1/2 C of low sodium chicken stock
small handful of fresh cilantro leaves
1/4 of an avocado without skin (can you use the skin? I'm not sure so I haven't done it)
1/4 C of fat free shredded cheddar cheese
S&P if desired to taste
Blend all ingredients on high for 5 minutes. Turn power down to level 4 and add a couple handfuls of multigrain tortilla chips (black bean and guacamole flavored chips have been really yummy too.) Blend for 10 seconds. If desired, turn down to level one and add some cooked chicken. I've used canned chicken from the tunafish section many times if I'm starving and feel like a more substantial soup.
I love this recipe because it's fast, it's delicious, I can put it in a thermos and take it in the car, or make it in the morning and take it to work for lunch.
A very good friend wrote me an email today, talking about when to eat fruit. Aways eat it on a empty stomach. Bloating, gas, and indigestion occur when eaten after a meal. Fruit does not stay in the stomach long, it needs to get into the intestines to do it's work, because it sweeps the body clean of toxins. You can go on a 3 day fruit fast and completely detox your body.
So, have your Vitamix fruit smooties in the AM, then wait an hour to eat whatever else you are going to have.
Remember to, veggies are the repair crew for the body.
Hi, Vita-village People!
Today, I made a soup. I used about a cup of organic V8 juice, one organic carrot, about a cup of broccoli, and a little garlic powder. I blended this up in the Vitamix. After blending, I added some garbonzo beans (aka chick peas) for texture and protein. I heated this up in my microwave. I could have just let the Vitamix cook it, but, I'm sorry, I don't want to listen to it "roar" for 5 minutes. Want to preserve my hearing as long as possible. Anyway, this turned out very good. Fast and nutritious!
