    You will probably want to talk with a Customer Service Representative who can ask and give specific questions and answers (1-800-848-2649, extension 2).

    However, taking into account what you have already mentioned, my guess is that the machine is overheating and turning itself off in order to protect the motor. Here are some things to try:

    • Go from Variable Speed 1 to 10 and then to High Speed within 5 seconds. The Vita-Mix does a better job of cooling itself down on High Speed than

    Hi, I have had my Vitamix a little over a month and am very disappointed. i was so overly excited to recieve it. On several occasions now, when i begin to blend, I always start on the low setting, gradually going up (the way we were told). When I try to go to the higher setting, the machine really shakes, makes a terrible loud noise and smells of burning rubber. In a very short time, the engine safety feature engages and it turns off.     I had to share this with all of you. I thought it was so neat! Check out this Vita-Mix machine that came in for repair. The customer lives in Florida and must be some kind of artist…how creative is this? We thought it was so neat. The VitaMix employee in repair thought it would be neat to share on Vita-Village with all of you. If you have a creative machine please share your photos with us. We would love to see them.  Last year, we had a visit from an Affiliate who brought in her black Vitamix machine to get it autographed by several of us who work here. It was really cool signing the machine I felt like a celebrity! People just love their Vitamix machine…

    I just bought a mint 1992 3600 Plus.  I was going to get the new 5200, but the more I looked into them, the more appealing the older machines seemed.  They have blade reversal and do everything in one canister.  I also heard they are quieter.  Why do people then "upgrade" to the 5200?  What is the real difference?  I haven't received this yet, but any advice would be appreciated.  Maggie

    I just bought a 5000 on sunday at a demo, they never mentioned a newer model on way, perhaps there is a big push to clear stock first :) Doubt new model will be much different just a way to get folk to spend more money and upgrade.  5000 works great so far, hot soup and smoothies daily

    You would have to check with the retailer or call our Vitamix customer Service Dept. 1-800-vitamix to ask our experts your question. All I was saying was that the current model that we retail is the Vita-Mix 5200. It comes with a FULL MACHINE 7 YEAR WARRANTY backed 100 % by Vita-Mix if the machine has been used according to the terms on the warranty certificate.

• carafe loose on base

    My Vitamix 5200 just arrived today. I haven't used it yet, and I'm actually thinking of returning it, because of the loose way it sits on the 4 rubber plugs on the base. It has a tremendous amount of "play" and seems like it would be easy to knock over, especially since the lid is so awkward. It looks like it takes two hands to lift the flaps to get the lid off, which it is sitting precariously on the base. Is this how it is supposed to be?

    I have also seen that in the USA that they have the 5200 as opposed to the 5000 available here in the UK.

    I have read the question (from 6 months ago) put by Kevin about when the 5200 might be available here in the UK.

    I've had my 5000 for several years now and the only problem I've had was when I stupidly left a spoon in the container. I paid a total of about $20 for a new part and was up and running again in no time. However, I realize it's frustrating to not have access to the 5200, especially since there's an upgrade involved with the containers and motor.

    The thing to keep in mind is that the Vita-Prep 3's motor hasn't had an upgrade in goodness-knows-how-long and the containers are the old ones as well (I
