I bought a 3600n (I think) a few months ago for $100 on Craigslist. I was thrilled because it had no plastic--I didn't realize it was so old. It works, but not the way a new one does. Its slower, I think. I imagine the gears are a little worn. (right now I'm remodeling my kitchen and can't find it). Does anyone have an opinion whether I should trade it in for a reconditioned one, or do something else with it, or its parts?

I just purchased the Vita Mix and I was disapointed in seeing the veggies that goes into soup must be cooked; therefore, losing its ingredients. Has anyone every tried it without cooking the veggies first. What happened?
DEAR VITA-MIX,
PLEASE BRING BACK YOUR STAINLESS STEEL CONTAINERS AND REVERSE SPEED!!!
I WOULD LOVE TO BUY A NEW UNIT, IF IT HAD THOSE TWO KEY THINGS.
I think it is kind of funny that people who are into their health would even consider a plastic container on a blender....they get stinky(it will never smell clean), crack, if you get something caught-you might be eating plastic and when the container gets hot in plastic-not good! I know a person who had food caught on the blade in her new vita-mix and had to buy a new container just the other day!
Yes, I am sure that there are some people who have there plastic containers for a couple of years and it works fine but what about 5 years down the line when the plastic starts to break down..... Yes- time to buy a new one, again and again. Mark my words folks, it will happen!
The stainless steel containers and reverse speed on the older Vita-mix's Rule!!! HANDS DOWN!!!
Please go back to your roots, Vita-mix.
p.s. I am not trying to be negative in any manner!
Hi. i found and printed a page with green smootie combinations.
I printed it for myself, but i would like to send the link to my son.
We gave him a Vitamix machine.
Cannot find the page!
Hi, I'm new to this, so please be gentle!
I bought a Vita Mix mixer here in the UK this summer and the demo guys used a great Thai tomato recipe complete with cashews to thicken and give taste. I haven't been able to locate the recipe, and was wondering if anyone here can help.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Hi everyone:
I have had my Vita mix for over 25 years and I just love it. Have used it almost daily and especially at harvest time. My brushes went on it a while ago but I was fortunate enough to get another pair and now my machine is up and running again. Had a hard time living without it. Have been thinking of buying a new one but the plastic container has been a concern for me as well. Must do more research. Happy mixing....Lynn

Vitamix was again a sponsor of the annual WGAR concert "Guitars for Girls,” a benefit fundraiser concert for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment which was held October 27, 2009. Cleveland’s country music station, WGAR, joined Cleveland Clinic, VitaMix, and Lorain County Community College to help raise nearly $28,000 for the Komen Foundation! Entertainment consisted of an up-close and personal acoustic set with 3 country music stars.
The Vitamix demo table was a popular stop for concertgoers who loved our famous Pink Ribbon Smoothie that we were making. If you would like the recipe, go to the Vitamix Breast Cancer page http://www.vitamix.com/household/Health/breasthealth.asp#recipes
Vitamix was also invited to a meet & greet with the performers who included Richie McDonald, formerly of Lonestar, James Otto and Chuck Wicks (who was on Dancing with the Stars!) It was a great concert and we enjoy being a sponsor for this event.

I had to share this with all of you. I thought it was so neat! Check out this Vita-Mix machine that came in for repair. The customer lives in Florida and must be some kind of artist…how creative is this? We thought it was so neat. The VitaMix employee in repair thought it would be neat to share on Vita-Village with all of you. If you have a creative machine please share your photos with us. We would love to see them. Last year, we had a visit from an Affiliate who brought in her black Vitamix machine to get it autographed by several of us who work here. It was really cool signing the machine I felt like a celebrity! People just love their Vitamix machine…
Send in your pictures and stories.

Here is a photo the Affiliate's autographed machine:
Recently, Kris Carr author of Crazy, Sexy, Cancer was in Cleveland for a speaking engagement at the JD Breast Cancer Symposium. Vita-Mix was there in support of Carr who is also a Vita-Mix Affiliate and published author with a large following among women and especailly young women.
In 2003, Kris Carr was diagnosed with a rare and incurable Cancer. She began filming her story, with experimental treatment as her only option, Kris became determined to find answers and traveled the country interviewing experts in alternative medicine. She met with other women determined to become survivors in their own fight against Cancer.
Crazy Sexy Cancer is a film & book about rising to life's challenges!
Here is a recipe Carr recently promoted that uses the Vita-Mix machine, her blender of choice! Click here for Carr's website
Menu Magic LOULOU'S RAW BANOFFEE PIE by Raw Lou Lou PIE CRUST -1 cup almonds -1 1/2 cups dates 1. Blitz the almonds up to desired crunch size 2. Add the dates and blend thoroughly together 3. Place the crust onto an oiled pie dish and flatten out with damp hands FILLING -1 cup cashew nuts (soaked) -3 bananas -1/4 cup filtered water -2 T coconut oil 1. In a high speed blender (Vitamix), add the water and then the cashews and blend up until moderately smooth 2. Add the bananas as you go and until a very smooth thick consistency is reached 3. I just bought a mint 1992 3600 Plus. I was going to get the new 5200, but the more I looked into them, the more appealing the older machines seemed. They have blade reversal and do everything in one canister. I also heard they are quieter. Why do people then "upgrade" to the 5200? What is the real difference? I haven't received this yet, but any advice would be appreciated. Maggie
I AM SO HAPPY TO BE A VITA-MIX AFFILIATE NOW AND WILL BE ACTIVE IN THE VITA VILLAGE, IT WILL BE A GREAT OPPERTUNITY TO SHARE IDEAS WITH LIKEMINDED PEOPLE. I AM CANADIAN AND WANT TO PROMOTE THE VITA-MIX MACHINE LOCALLY. NOT MANY PEOPLE IN MY AREA HAVE EVEN HEARD OF IT. THAT WILL SOON CHANGE IF I CAN REACH ENOUGH PEOPLE. I AM ALSO NEW TO BLOGGING, ANY COMMENTS OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
